FAQs about our counselling services

What kind of issues can counselling help with?

Our counselling and support services are designed to assist with a range of challenges related to alcohol and other drug use, trauma, mental health, and family dynamics. We work with individuals and families who may be affected by alcohol, struggling with addictive behaviour, or experiencing the impact of long-term emotional stress.

How many sessions will I need?

We require a minimum of four counselling sessions, but many clients choose to continue for longer depending on their needs. Each person’s goals are different, and your counsellor will provide guidance and advice as part of an ongoing treatment plan that evolves with your progress.

Who will I be working with?

You’ll work with experienced counsellors and therapists specialising in addiction treatment, trauma, and mental health. Many are based in Victoria and bring deep knowledge of local resources, including helpline and harm reduction strategies, particularly for those navigating alcohol or drug concerns.

Can I include my partner or family in counselling?

Yes, absolutely. We offer family counselling and support to help rebuild relationships, improve communication, and support recovery together. Sessions can include loved ones who have been affected by alcohol or drug-related behaviour.

What if I’m not sure I’m ready to talk about everything?

That’s completely okay. Counselling is confidential, and you set the pace. Many clients begin by exploring the immediate effects of their health condition or emotional overwhelm, and gradually feel safe enough to address deeper issues.

How does your counselling program support long-term recovery?

We support long-term recovery by helping clients build emotional regulation skills, create healthier relationships, and develop harm reduction strategies. Whether you’re exiting a residential program or starting with outpatient support, counselling helps you maintain stability beyond alcohol or drug rehabilitation.

What can I expect from my first session?

Your first session is a chance to talk about what’s brought you here and what you’d like support with. You’ll meet one-on-one with a counsellor, explore your goals, and begin building a therapy plan. It’s a relaxed, respectful space — designed to make you feel safe and heard.

Are your sessions flexible around work or family commitments?

Yes. We offer daytime, evening, and weekend appointments, including remote sessions. Whether you're based in regional Victoria or in the city, our counselling is designed to fit around your life — not disrupt it.
