What to expect from hospital detox

What makes our hospital detox program different

Detox can be one of the hardest parts of recovery, but it is that critical first step. We operate a private hospital in Geelong where you can begin our medically supervised inpatient detox program. You’ll be safe and secure with 24/7 care delivered by experienced addiction specialists.

Who this program is for

This program is for people who need more than just time to recover — they need medical care, support with mental health, and a safe space to begin healing.

How it helps

We help you feel physically safe, emotionally supported, and mentally clearer so you can get through withdrawal and start feeling more like yourself again.

Why it’s effective

You’re not left to manage this on your own. Our team is with you 24/7, guiding you through withdrawal with medication, structured daily therapy, and holistic support.

Questions about hospital detox?

FAQs about starting and staying with us

Do I need a referral to begin hospital detox?

No, you don’t need a referral to begin hospital detox at Hader Private. You can contact our admissions team directly for a free and confidential assessment. We’ll organise a pre-admission medical review to ensure you’re suitable for a medically supervised detox and tailor your admission to suit your availability. Our goal is to remove as many barriers as possible — so you can safely begin your recovery without delay. This is the first stage of your addiction rehabilitation recovery treatment program.

How long will I need to stay in hospital detox?

The length of detox depends on the substances used, how long you’ve been using them, and your overall health. Some clients require a short 7-day detox, while others may benefit from a 14, 28, or even 90-day residential drug and alcohol stay. We’ll work with you to recommend the safest and most effective length of detox based on your individual needs.

Can I use my super or private health to pay?

Yes. We accept most private health funds and can help you apply for early access to your super on compassionate grounds. Many of our clients use a combination of these options. Our team will guide you through the process and help check your eligibility, ensuring you can access care without unnecessary financial stress — whether you're funding a full treatment program or just the initial detox.

What happens after detox — do you offer ongoing care?

Absolutely. After detox, you can transition into one of our longer-term rehab programs, such as our residential or intensive outpatient offerings. You’ll also receive a tailored aftercare plan to continue your addiction recovery. We offer options like transitional housing, day program access, online support, and follow-up check-ins to help you stay on track.

What happens if I have a co-occurring mental health condition?

Hader Private is licensed and equipped to treat clients with dual diagnosis, meaning we can support both substance use and mental health issues simultaneously. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and addiction specialists who work together to deliver integrated, individual and tailored care.

Do you offer support for families and loved ones?

Yes. We believe families play a critical role in long-term recovery. Our rehab clinic offers family counselling, education, and support during and after your stay. This helps rebuild trust, improve communication, and empower everyone involved in the journey — particularly those impacted by drug and alcohol addiction.

What should I bring with me for my stay?

Bring comfortable clothes, basic toiletries, and any medications you’re currently taking. We recommend also packing a journal or reading materials that support your recovery. All aspects of the program — from meals to bedding — are taken care of, so you can focus entirely on your health.

Is there any wait time for admission?

We aim to minimise wait times as much as possible, especially for those in urgent need. In many cases, admissions can be arranged within a few days. The fastest way to secure a place is to contact our admissions team directly. Immediate admission may be possible for clients seeking day detox or urgent drug detox support.
