When a loved one is in recovery, the whole family needs support. This program provides tools, guidance, and connections to help you heal together.
Take a self-assessment or speak to someone now, with no pressure to commit.
Addiction affects more than just the person struggling — it impacts loved ones, too. Our family rehab support program gives you a safe place to learn, connect, and begin your own healing. We help families rebuild trust, strengthen communication, and become part of the recovery process.
This program is designed for family members, partners, and loved ones who want to support someone through recovery while protecting their own well-being.
We give you the knowledge, tools, and support to understand addiction, set healthy boundaries, and show up in ways that help, without enabling or burning out.
It’s led by people who understand addiction and recovery, including psychologists, family therapists, and peers, and it’s built on the belief that healing happens together.
After detoxing at our private hospital in Geelong, our clients enter residential rehab at our Essendon facility where they — and their families — can access structured daily therapy, emotional support, and the opportunity to connect with others who truly understand the challenges of sobriety.
This rehab program is designed to guide families step by step from understanding addiction to building lasting resilience. You’ll learn, connect, and heal at your own pace, with support at every stage.
Unsure where to start? Take a self-assessment or book a time to chat – both are 100% confidential.
We begin with education and perspective. Families learn what addiction is (and what it isn’t) while exploring how it affects relationships and everyday life.
You’ll learn how to communicate with compassion, express needs clearly, and set boundaries that support recovery without enabling harmful behaviours.
This stage helps families manage their own stress while learning how to support a loved one’s long-term recovery without fear, guilt, or control.
In this final phase, we focus on continuing the healing process. Families explore ongoing support options and create a plan for maintaining connection, trust, and balance.
Many services offer general advice, but we offer a fully structured, professionally led program where therapy, education, and meaningful connection are built in from the very first session.
This short, confidential quiz takes less than two minutes and can help you make sense of what’s going on. Choose the category that feels most relevant to you — whether it’s alcohol, drugs, mental health, or a mix of concerns — and we’ll guide you through a few simple yes/no questions.
At the end, we’ll let you know if your answers suggest it might be time to consider rehab, and share safe, confidential options for getting started.

The majority of our clients prefer private insurance, early super access or self-funding for their rehab programs. We have a range of options to make care more accessible for you.
Many families choose to self-fund their involvement, especially for shorter sessions or those wanting immediate access. You’ll know what to expect, and can start whenever you’re ready.
If you need more ongoing support, like weekly counselling or full program engagement, we offer interest-free payment plans to help make it manageable.
If your loved one is a DVA-recognised client, you may be eligible for funding to access family support sessions, especially if they’re currently in treatment with us.
Some private health policies include extras cover for mental health and counselling, which may apply to one-on-one or group family sessions at Hader Private.
Addiction ripples through families, damaging and even severing critical relationships. Our family therapy teaches every member the skills they need to heal and rebuild.
If you care about someone in recovery, you’re welcome here. Whether you’ve just begun the journey or need long-term support, we’re ready to help.
This program is open to any family member, partner, or loved one of someone experiencing addiction or in recovery, whether they’re receiving treatment at Hader or not. There’s no prior experience required and no judgment, only a shared goal of building healthier relationships, one step at a time.
Getting started is easy. Begin with a call to our admissions team, who will guide you through available support options and help you decide what fits best, from free introductory sessions to one-on-one counselling. We'll support you through every step, so you feel confident from the first conversation.

Speak to someone who understands
When someone you care about is in a residential treatment program, it can feel like life is on pause — but for families, the responsibilities and emotional strain continue. This program helps family members maintain stability, emotional regulation, and connection during that time, especially for those parenting or managing day-to-day life at home.
You’ll have access to outpatient family sessions, childcare support resources, and therapeutic education that covers parenting skills, attachment, and the effects of alcohol and drug use on children’s development. It’s also a safe place to process feelings like guilt, fear, or grief — emotions that are often overlooked in the recovery journey. Our goal is to reduce harm, build confidence, and help families feel empowered while their loved ones complete treatment.
Family members may feel powerless when someone they love is struggling with addiction. That’s why the family rehab program is designed to help even before your loved one is ready to seek treatment. Through education and support, you can learn how to support without enabling — and protect your own well-being while remaining present.
You’ll explore topics like boundaries, codependency, intervention strategies, and communication tools. This early work can create the conditions for a loved one to eventually accept help, whether through outpatient care or residential treatment.
Yes. This program is open to all families impacted by substance use — not just those with a loved one currently in our care. Whether your child, partner, or parent is in another rehab, refusing treatment, or attending an outpatient program elsewhere, we welcome you.
Families are often the first to feel the disruption that addiction causes, even before formal treatment begins. Supporting you through that is part of how we help break the cycle of addiction and support long-term recovery and healthy relationships.
Yes — and in many cases, it’s encouraged. Mothers, fathers, siblings, and extended family members can benefit from shared participation. When at least one parent or support person is involved in recovery efforts, it can strengthen the whole system.
We work with families of all shapes and sizes, including those impacted by early childhood trauma, childcare concerns, or out-of-home care arrangements. Our goal is to create safe, inclusive spaces for healing — together.
Yes. Recovery doesn’t stop when someone finishes treatment — and neither does family support. We offer long-term options, including counselling, support groups, reunification services, and follow-up care for families impacted by substance use.
Whether your loved one is completing treatment in one of our rehabs or elsewhere, you’ll continue to have access to outpatient programs, education workshops, and therapeutic services that help you support sustained sobriety.
These services are available nationwide and can be accessed digitally — ensuring that no matter your location, your family can stay connected to support.
Substance abuse and mental health are closely linked. Many people struggling with addiction also face a co-occurring mental health disorder — and that complexity can add strain to family relationships. We understand how challenging it is to support someone who’s managing both behavioural, physical and mental health concerns.
Our team follows guidance aligned with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and offers referrals or integration with appropriate mental health services. Whether your loved one is in residential family treatment or an outpatient program, we’ll support you in navigating the healthcare system with clarity and care.
Addiction in the family can lead to emotional, behavioural, and practical disruption — including neglect of relationships, parenting roles, and communication. Our family rehab program is designed to support those rebuilding after difficult or destabilising experiences.
With therapeutic support and peer groups, families can begin to re-establish safe patterns of communication, rebuild emotional security, and learn how to manage the impact of long-term substance use. We work with families impacted by early childhood trauma, supervision concerns, and breakdowns in household structure.
Yes. Many parents who join this program are raising children while supporting someone through addiction — or are in recovery themselves. For families where children are living at home, the pressure of parenting alongside recovery support can be overwhelming.
We help parents and carers prioritise stability and routines while building tools to manage stress, strengthen attachment, and support their children's physical and emotional well-being. Whether you’re managing recovery as a mother, father, or co-parent, we’re here to help you balance care with recovery.
